Land Revenue Terms Glossary

A document showing current ownership of land, issued by the Patwari or revenue office. Also called Fard-e-Malikanat.

1 acre = 1 killa. Also a unit of measurement used for agricultural land.

1/20 of a Kanal. The standard unit for residential plots. 1 Marla = 272.25 sq ft (revenue) or 225 sq ft (DHA).

20 Marla = 1 Kanal. Standard measurement for residential and agricultural land in Pakistan.

1/9 of a Marla. Small unit used in revenue records. 1 Sarsai ≈ 30.25 sq ft.

4 Marla = 1 Biswa. Used in some areas of Punjab for land measurement.

80 Marla = 4 Kanal = 1 Bigha. Traditional unit, varies by region.

8 Kanal = 160 Marla = 43,560 sq ft. International standard unit used in Pakistan.

10,000 sq meters = 107,639 sq ft ≈ 2.47 acres. Metric unit, used in some official documents.
